Science

The teaching of science aims to encourage a child's inquisitiveness about how and why things happen. At New Siblands School, the teaching of science incorporates a wide variety of teaching styles that encompass an auditory, visual and kinesthetic approach to learning. 

Science particularly lends itself to a kinesthetic approach and at New Siblands, pupils engage in a wide variety of activities that explore scientific enquiry, life processes and living things, materials and their properties and physical processes. 

As the pupils have a diverse range of scientific abilities and learning styles, we provide various activities tailored to suit the needs and educational targets of each child.

For instance, Secondary 3 have been learning about light and how our eyes help us to see things. One pupil explored how we can see in the dark by tracking a torch light, while another pupil watched a powerpoint presentation that illustrated this concept.
