INTRODUCTION

Things have been a bit quiet recently on the Friends of New Siblands School (FONSS) front.

The good news is that, with the great support of Filton Golf Club who raised 9,000 for us last year, FONSS have reached the 20,000 target needed to support the school in their bid for specialist status. We will keep hold of that money until the staff have written and finalised their documents and are ready to make their application. Thank you to those parents who have helped us with this over the last 18 months.

We are still desperate for new members, especially those with younger children who can help us out for longer. If you feel you can help or have some great new ideas, please contact Brenda Jeal who is Chairperson of FONSS and also works at the school. Messages can be sent via her son Tom Jeal or through school.

We would love to see you at the next

meeting on Tuesday 9th June at 7.30pm at Wendy Britten's house in Rockhampton. Please ask Brenda or Wendy (via Sarah Britten) for details.

November 2008. Christmas Disco

Lucky numbers club is ongoing giving members the chance to win some money. contact Wendy Britten (via Sarah) for details if you would like to join.

Easyfundraising donations to FONSS is also ongoing. Details of how this works follows.

Easyfundraising.org.uk

provides a FREE service where you can shop with your favourite online stores and at no extra cost raise funds for any charity, good cause or group you choose to support. You still shop directly with each retailer as you would normally, but simply by using the links from the easyfundraising website first, each purchase you make will generate a cashback donation to the cause you wish to support.

You can shop with
500+ Brand Name retailers, and to raise funds you just use the links from the easyfundraising website first - it's that simple!

If you ALREADY shop online, why not help good causes at no extra cost from purchases you would make anyway.

FONSS has now registered New Siblands School, Thornbury FONSS as a charity that can be supported in this way and you can register and shop using the following steps:

1. Go into the easyfundraising.org.uk website on the internet.

2. Register yourself as a user by clicking on the register link. Choose New Siblands School, Thornbury FONSS as your charity/organisation. You may have to look for it in their long list of    charities but you can click on the letter N to narrow it down a bit. Then enter your name and e-mail details and click here to continue at the bottom.

3. You can read any of their information on the website.

4. To raise money, all you do is choose your retailer from the a-z list on the easyfundraising website instead of going into the retailers website directly. Make your online purchase as normal at the same online price and a  percentage will go into our pot once the transaction has been processed by the retailer.

Only 8 members have registered to date raising 70 for school so far a great start. It could be so much higher if more of you give it a try. Please help us.
